March 6, 2008 in 4GW, Liberia, Operation Firedump, Thailand, logistics, mercenary, updated
Viktor Bout arrested in Thai hotel room on charges of arming FARC.

Update: Here’s the pic - it’s obviously him.

I’m a bit worried about that post title - you aren’t getting fond of the bloodstained old bastard, are you?

It’s the George Steiner thing; I think I’ll look for Viktor Bout.

I love the look on his face. It says “I really can’t believe this silly sh!t - don’t they know who I am!”
A good day for everyone who has been pursuing him all these years… the extradition fight should be a spectacle.

Radio 5 interviewing some journalist (from the FT) on the Bout story. Apparently he was involved shipping arms to warzones like ‘Bosnia and pre-2001 Afghanistan’. Surely he’s had some involvement in Iraq and post-2001 Afghanistan? I think we should be told.

I saw this arrest on Dutch news without him being named, so I hoped you would’ve picked up on it.
